There are people out there who try to deconstruct jokes to see what makes them funny, and comedians often argue that it's missing the point. I agree with them, but I've done the same thing with this book; I've reread it time and time again trying to see what it is that makes it work so damn well.It takes a little while for the plot to get going, and yes, there were times when I disliked how something/someone was described, but oh god, the story. Here's what a lot of stories are missing: heart. You can go on and on about love interests, physical descriptions, etc., but if your story has no heart, I'm not going to care. Something Like Summer has so much heart, and it will probably break yours, but it is worth it, my friends, it is worth it.
