Gavin is one of those characters that is so creepy that he often borders on self-parody. He is a master manipulator and truly delights in twisting around people's lives for his own gain or amusement.
It took a while for this book to reach an interesting pace, but by the last hundred pages, everything barrelled forward like a train off the rails. The story itself isn't quite plausible, but the fear is so real that it's palpable. Campbell is a master at creating tension as well as intense characters, so it's unlikely the reader will lose interest. Definitely recommended for those who like horror.
